The Newton Fire Department (UT) was created as a "fire squad" in 1929 as a means to provide faster fire protection to the community.
In that year a fire cart and hose were purchased by the Town to allow the fire squad to respond and attach to the newly installed fire hydrants.
Backed up by the Logan City/Cache County Fire Department, the fire squad responded to the scene to begin fire suppression operations while the County engine responded from Logan.
In 1940 Newton's status was officially changed to a volunteer department, and in the late 1960's Newton joined the newly formed Cache County Fire District.
The dedication of the department's founder - Chief Carl Jorgensen and his squad of firefighters in 1929 - has continued through the years and is carried on by our current membership, the Bravest of Newton, Utah.
